PPH Evaluation
Identifying primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH) can be difficult
due to the symptoms appearing very common to other non-threatening
conditions. The result of the delayed diagnosis leads to the PPH
progressing into later stages of the condition and worsening the
health of the individual. Since there is no cure associated to PPH,
a delayed diagnosis can significantly decrease the life expectancy
of the patient. Consult your doctor and get a PPH evaluation.
Evaluating primary pulmonary hypertension in order to identify
the condition is present in addition to evaluating an optimal treatment
for the particular individual is a difficult and painstaking process
that can include:
- Patient interview and physical examination
- Chest x-ray
- Electrocardiogram
- Arterial blood gas measurements
- Coagulation evaluation
- Serologic and other blood tests
- Echocardiography and Doppler ultrasound noninvasive hemodynamics
- Transesophageal echocardiography
- Ventilation-perfusion lung scan
- Pulmonary function testing
- Exercise physiology assessment
- Ultrafast CT scan and high resolution CT scan
- Pulmonary angiography
- Invasive hemodynamics and vasodilator assessment
- Sleep Laboratory to assess Sleep Apnea
- Pulmonology consultation
- Rheumatology consultation
- Transplant and Surgical consultation
- Home Health Nursing evaluation
